It was the dimples that undid him every time.

General Hammond looked silently at the two officers before him, who'd just been caught kissing in the locker room and should almost certainly be court martialled.

"Can you give me one reason why you both should not be thrown from the SGC in contempt?"

O'Neill and Carter looked at each other.

"None, sir," O'Neill said. "We are sorry."

Carter stole a glance at O'Neill just as he glanced at her and they smiled at each other. The dimples flashed at Hammond. It broke him. They were just too magnetic.

"This once," he said, rising majestically, "This once, I shall tell the President on that red phone there, that another pesky alien virus has infected the Base. Meanwhile..."

"We'll never let it happen again," Carter said, eagerly.

"You will never be caught again," Hammond corrected, watching happily as the dimples came out again.

"Thank you sir," Jack said, pressing Hammond's hand warmly. "We can't tell you how happy we are."

Hammond smiled benevolently. "I think this virus has the potential to be very bad. Rampant, even. I'd use this time well if I was you."

Carter was already tugging O'Neill out of the door.

"Yes, sir!" O'Neill saluted as he was unceremoniously hauled away.

Anytime, thought Hammond. He wondered how far they would get from his office before they started kissing again.

He was such a sucker for dimples.
