I need to rant regarding the possible spin off for Stargate and their possible lead.

WTH are they thinking? No really. I'm seriously hoping whoever is posting this is wrong wrong wrong. Michael Shanks has made it loud and clear that he only returned for S10 so he could work with Claudia Black. So why the hell base your new spin off on the whiney bitch in the corner who's acting range goes between looking bored or constipated and possibly both at once.

Have TPTB even watched their own show? S8 was painful to watch as RDA was staring at the ceiling. A lot of people stopped watching S9 when RDA left. Do they honestly think that the new viewers tuned in for Michael Shanks? If anyone saved the series, it was Claudia Black and Ben Browder who frankly were the only actors showing any enthusiasm for the show.

You hauled them in and then you dissed them. Which was a shame, because the series was working again. It was new, it was interesting and fun to watch again. MS? Not the person who saved your asses. People didn't like his episodes for him, they did because you tied him up with Claudia Black .

This just feels like they've killed something that was promising and shiny again in order for something new and... whatever the hell they're thinking it might be with Michael Shanks in the lead. WTF people. WTF.

So yeah, TPTB better wisen up and realise who truly made the last seasons work. And yeah, it shouldn't surprise anyone that if they were to start a new spin off with Vala and Cameron, I'd be in heaven. Because CB and BB actually ACTED. I'm holding out for those movies. You know, as long as they don't decide to haul RDA back for those so him and MS and try to do a who looks most bored/constipated contest.

*breathes* Rant done! I'm good. Well no, not good. I just needed to get that out.

I love Daniel. But... really, I don't really care for him after season 6. He was just different. Didn't have the same spark. The show didn't have the spark. Hasn't since then.

I love Ben Browder and Claudia Black. I love Mitchell and I love Vala. But... I just don't really like seasons 9 and 10.

I just don't think that they should make another show. Let Stargate Altantis shine for a few years by itself!

I used to like Daniel a lot, but he changed in S5 and when he left, it sort of felt right. I never managed to warm up to Daniel again. I liked him better in S10, but it's still not the same as I used to.

I enjoyed S9 and S10 for what they were and mostly because of Mitchell and Vala. I think if anyone should get a recognition for a spin off, it should be them. (Because I am very sad about only getting 2 years of Cameron canon and I would love more.) But then again, I have no problem with there being no spin off at all and letting Atlantis stand on its own feet.

I can't comment much on the earlier seasons or RDA, but I definitely like Cameron best. And I'd love to see a spin off with him and Vala or Sam :)

Hahahaha! I am sorry. I am frustrated that I used to love Jack so much, but I wanted to beat the character repeatedly during S8. And the cameos RDA has done were still just plane bad.

That being said, I'd still prefer seeing RDA again than Daniel.

You are so right about season 10. I mean, I thought season 9 was the low point of the series, but it really bounced back in S10. It WAS working again. The characters were clicking and the actors seemed to find their comfort zones, and they laid off the "Hallowed are the Ori" thing. It was just starting to get good again. And then they dumped it all! FEH!

Yeah, that's what I hate about it. Both the show and the fans seemed to be really getting back into things. So I'm disappointed that they're not giving it a chance to grow further in favour of starting something new.

And it bugs me most in regards to the new characters who aren't getting a chance. Because honestly, the others had their time to shine.

I agree. I thought the most logical thing to do for a restart would be to base it on Cameron and Vala and go from there. Maybe it would be too Farscape-ish in theory?

I hate that we won't have any more Sam and Cameron, with the teasing and the poking. For once Sam was so happy and free. *grumps*

I so agree with your rant. Ben is such lead material and MS? He bores me to tears. I skip over all his junk to see Ben. Cameron and Vala in a spin off would be great. I say let Cameron and Teal'c be bounty hunters and Vala can help. Well, okay she can drive them batty. Ben and Claudia should always be together like Tracy and Hepburn.

Oh c'mon, that takes talent - I mean being whiny and bored and constipated all at once.

Maybe the spin-off will be a good thing for Shanks in terms of realizing it's time to find a new career outside of acting. Sometimes when you can't make the right decision to move your life and career forward or take a new direction, a really bad idea by your bosses can. The sleeping pill industry will be happy too coz Shanks has been taking away their customers - just one small dose of Michael and you're on your way to the land of the nod.

Well, I'm not bored. I have really been enjoying S10 even if the story telling is sometimes lacking. Most of the times when I do enjoy it, it's because CB and BB are just awesome.

Honestly, I stopped watching after Season 8. Which is weird, because I absolutely adore Claudia and Ben. But without RDA (who was obviously ready to move on), it just didn't hold the same appeal for me. Plus I tuned into an episode here and there and just found the plots...well...ridiculous.

Personally, I'm with you that Shanks should have stayed gone after S5. I loved Jonas, and never understood why they had to write him off. (We can have Vala *and* Sam, Cameron *and* Daniel, but not Daniel and Jonas? WHY?) And MS (or Daniel) is just not a lead character. The only way he can get by and not be overwhelming bleh is in an ensemble cast. Just...gah.

The sad thing is, working in the 'Gate verse is probably the only way Shanks can keep an acting gig. ;)

I saw a mention of the new spinoff last week. I never had time to read more into it but my very first thought was that if they were doing a spinoff to please, please, please have it star CB and BB. I love Sam, Teal'c and Daniel, but they've done (for the most part) ten years and I wouldn't mind seeing them move on. Or pop in for an ep or two. But you're right that the series is definitely fresher with Cameron and Vala, and really they should be the ones carrying a new Stargate show.

Really? I didn't know that. That's kind of a cute, but almost contrived sentiment, it feels like.

Er. I saw my first SG ep with Cameron in it last Saturday night, as a rerun. It was Avalon Part II. He was cute. Vala was cute. Caroline Lem was cute.

Yeah, I could watch. But I have to make my way through S8 DVDs first, since it drives me crazy to watch things out of order...
