Veronica Mars ponderings
Oct. 25th, 2006 08:07 pmSo, it's no terrible secret that I'm not a big fan of Logan/Veronica. I frankly think that Veronica could do heaps better and that Logan needs to see a shrink before he can have a workable relationship with anyone. Still, I'm pretty laid back usually about the romances in this show. I've just been noticing a lot of cracks about the pairing that have been bugging me.
In the first episode, we saw Veronica already having her doubts about the relationship. She was wondering how she'd become the girl who was trying to cling to a high school relationship. Which to me felt like she was wondering about the maturity of the relationship as well.
Last week's ep was pretty interesting all things considered. I liked some aspects, I well and truly hated others. I'll start with the good; I loved them showing the difficulties Veronica was having. Of course she has issues trusting Logan. Can you blame her? I loved it even more when she caught herself and went back to remove the tracking device from Logan's car. This was a huge, big step for Veronica and I loved her being able to take it.
The hate part? Yeah, pretty much involves anything Logan did. I don't doubt that it had been a while since Veronica and him had met up. I don't doubt that Logan was pulling back from Veronica before she started to get worried. He could have just mentioned the party to her and that would have been that, instead he kept it to himself. He lied about going gambling and he was giving her reasons to be suspicious. So yeah, he did cancel his weekend but he didn't really acknowledge his own mistakes and was all happy to let Veronica take all of the blame. (Granted, Logan mumbles so much that I might not have understood what he said. Seriously yo, ARTICULATE!)
Now, whatever. We can go 'yay for it being a flawed relationship'. It's maybe more realistic. I don't know. I'm just glad they're not my OTP to be honest. I don't find that they're handling the pairing really well on the series. Maybe it's because they already had their relationship once before but I find it... boring. You know how in series they're always scared of getting a pairing together because it becomes dull after a while? Yeah, that's what I feel is happening here. They had the UST and normally now they would be in the cute stage, but it seemed that after only four episodes they've already right jumped into the dull phase where the relationship is just background noise.
Of course, it might just be that I have too much Cameron in my head. I have the tendency to be unable to have two OTPs with the same character in it and yeah... Veronica/Cameron sort of owns my brain at the moment.
On a completely different note. I am crushing on Veronica Mars (which admittedly might again be Cameron's fault). I have realised that Kristen Bell is exactly doing to me what Katee Sackhoff did. I love the character, but the actress has weird taste in clothes and I seriously hate most of the photoshoots she seems to be getting herself in to. It's supposedly to make herself more sexy and hot, but dude... She is gorgeous as Veronica. She wears clothes I would never dream of wearing, but it's simple and it's cute and she's beautiful in them. All those photoshoots are just so over the top and it's too much trying. Seriously girl, stick to the Veronica Mars wardrobe.

Date: 2006-10-25 07:22 pm (UTC)I like Canon!V with Logan still, though I could deal with her hooking up with Weevil.
But I really like the Veronica/Cameron pairing we've been writing (all 643 versions of it). It's way different than any of her other relationships and they are just so pretty together.

Yes! It's my main ship omg and it kind of screws with my head on how I look at things because no one can beat Cameron!
... I might be a bit rabid.

Date: 2006-10-26 01:01 am (UTC)I agree with the therapy thing. The boy should seriously go to a couple (dozen) sessions. I actually think both of them would benefit from seeing a shrink, because they're both a bit messed up in the head.
As for that end scene, I think he was trying to get out an apology, but then she beat him to it, and the invite to the film festival was his way of apologizing without overshadowing hers, because woah, she apologized, man!
Erm, yeah. I better go see if I have anything else other than cheetos.
(And yes, she SHOULD stick to Veronica Clothes!)
(...Is that... Veronica and... Cameron Mitchel? *perks*)

Why yes it is. They're dating at FH.

And guh! Veronica and Cameron Mitchel! Yummy!
