Dude, I can not believe this. Tour of Duty is out on DVDs in the US and they were forced to take out the contemporary music (read music from during the Vietnam War) and replace it with instrumental music. Which is just... When I hear Paint It Black, I immediately think of that series because that's where I heard the song first.

Bah, I remember the soundtracks for this show really kicking ass and they made them take it out. Suckage.

I read an article on that. They don't want to pay the royalties they'd have to pay to use the original music. Which sucks beyond the telling. I'm the same way with Paint It Black. I think that show was one of the first times I'd heard it.

I bought the season two DVD set a few months ago (becasue it really is all about LT and Alex). I knew about the music change, but it was still wrong to watch the opening montage without Paint it Black. I too always think about ToD when I hear that song.

Really? Huh. Hello, censorship.

I watched "Boston Legal" (a lawyer show) a while back, and the plaintiff was a bar owner who didn't want the defendent, a singer, to perform the song WAR (What's it good for, absolutely nothin', that one).

If music lyrics threaten/undermine one's political stance, then it's possible one's stance might not be too well fortified, imho.
