I sat down and made my mom watch the first bit. I'm not sure if she's impressed or not, but she didn't run away and kept asking questions so...

Don't your Farscape DVDs have English subtitles (for the hearing impaired)? They're kinda funny, cos they also tell you about noises [shooting], [loud bang] and things like that, but I find they help =a lot= with mumbled and/or fast paced dialogue.
Whenever I'm tired, I play my DVDs with either English or Dutch subtitles ;-)
