Replicators milled around Sam's legs, aimless and directionless as if uncertain what their purpose was anymore. She considered for a moment, then spoke, her voice soft. "Self-destruct mode activate."
There was a click and the spiders chittered back and forth to themselves. Then they all froze.

"This is not good," Anders mumbled to himself as he high-tailed it off the rooftop.
=-
"All of this has happened before."
"Leoben, do you ever get tired of sounding like a simple human?" Six asked sarcastically.
"No more than you do."
=-
She remembered drowning.
Kara rolled off of the mattress in her apartment, and onto her hands and knees, panting. Great gulps of stale air sucked in and out, until she wondered if she could get drunk on the empty bottles of ambrosia scenting it.
"Hey."
She looked up to find Helo staring at her.
"You ok?"
No. "Yeah." She tossed him a smirk. "When am I ever not?"
"Well, there was that time on Picon--"
"Brat."
He smirked back. "You ready to move?"
"Gimme a--" Her belly ached, her skin itched, and she wondered what she'd find if she looked under her shirt. "--minute."
-=
Tick.
Crunch.
Tick.
Crunch.
There was something satisfying in stepping down onto motionless replicators. Sam tilted her head and watched the little blocks turn into scrap metal as she stomped another one.

Helo was in the kitchen when Kara got there. She eyed the small stockpile of food. "Never was much for cooking."
"You burn water."
She shrugged. "Let's get the frak out of here."
"Now? Kara--"
"Now."
-=
"Sharon."
The dark-haired woman smiled, the expression fake, as she looked between Leoben and Six. "Where's Doral?"
=-
"Samantha Carter. Such an... interesting name. So human."
