I have finally determined what is wrong with my writing lately. While I do get some plotbunnies, I have problems working them out. Every time I start a fic, I end up abandoning it after one or two paragraphs, or I finish it and abandon it after the beta. Most things that I write down just don't feel right. It's chunky and the writing style is jarring, which means that when Julie betas she ends up having to shred it to pieces.
I think the fault lies with me overthinking everything. I'm not sitting down and writing what comes to mind. I'm second guessing every word, every sentence, that I write down. Instead of feeling what it is I'm putting to paper, I'm thinking what I should write down. My head is not in touch with the rest of me, which leaves me with a fic that is disconnected.
Translation; don't hold your breath for the Cally/Lee fic.
