On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down a line of the song.

Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then have your friends comment and see if they know the songs!

Whoever gets them first and its correct I'll place the title & artist along with the persons name who guessed it. And no cheating searching the lyrics online!

Note, I have few mp3's so most tend to be from the same artist or live versions of songs. So yeah, some artists do repeat. Although one band managed to get on here with the only 2 mp3's I have from them.

1. Your freedom is so precious that it makes me hurt.
2. And that's what makes me high, your love that keeps me alive.
3. It's not the way you walk, and it ain't the way you talk
It ain't the job you got, that keeps me satisfied
4. Don't believe in love, don't believe in hate, don't believe in anything that you can't waste
5. No place for beginners or sensitive hearts, when sentiment is left to chance, no place to be ending but somewhere to start.
6. Give me some love, give me some skin, if we ain't got that then we ain't got much (this song doesn't have many lyrics without the title, oy)
(*skips song as it's in dutch*)
7. The city draws it's breath in, I can almost hear it thinking, there are people withing my walls, see their wild disorder
8. Before the day I met you, life was so unkind, but you're the key to my peace of mind
9. Just for this lifetime you can be my past time , here are the rules of our play, in it together till I know you better
10. You are everywhere I go, all the places we have been, I can’t imagine where you are, for you are all I’ve ever seen
11. I can fly but I want his wings, I can shine even in the darkness but I crave the light that he brings
12. Could we stay right here, till the end of time until the earth stops turning, wanna love you until the seas run dry
13. If you think you'll get away, I will prove you wrong, I'll take you all away
14. Maybe then I’ll fade away and not have to face the facts, it’s not easy facin’ up when your whole world is black
15. Stripping back the coats of lies and deceptions, back to nothing else like a week in the desert
16. A day just like today with nobody else around, friendships move on until the day you can't get along
17. Can't you hear my heart is calling, you don't know how hard I've fallen for you
18. Lift you open hand. Strike up the band and make the fire flies dance. Silver moon's sparking.
(*skips dutch song* Zou ik het dan niet kunnen zijn vanavond?)
19. So I went from day to day, tho' my life was in a rut,
'till I thought of what I'd say, which connection I should cut
20. I wear this crown of thorns upon my liar's chair, full of broken thoughts I cannot repair

8. Natural Woman---I'm assuming Aretha.
20. Hurt---Couldn't tell you if it's NIN or Johnny Cash, though.

I know I know some of the others, but I is stoopit this morning on account of no coffee.

The Hurt version I have is from Johnny Cash =o)

Very sensible, as it is much better, without all the goth "I'm so deep and in pain" chording.

*tries to remember which songs were already guessed and which not*

7. is Last Day of June (is that Neil Finn on his own or Finn Brothers?)
has 10. been guessed already? Moloko, and ahh, i can't find the title.. i can't imagine where you are, for you are all i've ever seen! over & over? isn't that what it's called?
11. is Gabriel by Lamb of course!
and i'm not sure about 16. but i'm thinking of Summer Moved On by A-HA.. at least the friendships part is definitely right, so.

PS i like the NiN version of Hurt! didn't even know it was a song by Johnny Cash, silly me =)

Oh weird. I'm listening to Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" right now. It's awesome. Found it through [livejournal.com profile] hp_soundtracks.

Oh, that's it. "Last Day of June." I couldn't for the life of me think of the title, lol! Such a bad, bad fan I am. But then, it's not my favorite Finn Brothers tune. It's good, but just not my favorite. I much prefer "Only Talking Sense" from that CD.

Which is funny, because when I saw their concert last week, Tim said, "Perhaps we should play something off the first Finn record. What do you think, Neil?" Which prompted two competing factions of the audience to alternately shout out, "Paradise!" and "Last Day of June!"

They let that go on for a while, and then they played "Only Talking Sense."

I love them, lol!

*nods* Me, too. I guess a lot of people have that same fear of the unknown. Somehow makes me feel a little less pathetic -- yay!
