My sis called earlier to tell me she had corrected my chapter on the basilisk. She asked me to drop by as she had made chocolate mouse for the first time and she wanted me to have a taste. So I dropped by and it was very yum. My sis is a great cook.

When I came back home, my parents were back too. After seeing Troy I had told my sister that I should read the Iliad and the Odyssey as I didn't know the story all that well. Apparently my sister told my mom this and she bought me a dutch translation with both stories. Bwah, now I'm tempted to just start reading.

Neopets is proving to be very addictive. I got this potion that should allow me to transform a pet into a Draik pet (which is a limited pet). Apparently it's worth a lot of neopoints so now I don't know whether to sell it, save it or get myself a draik pet with. Decisions, decisions.

Make a trade... If jaradax creates a lot of e.g. lime jelly, you can offer her an item and/or money. Maybe there are other ways, but that's the only thing I can think of...

Oh, *cringe* the Iliad... I had to read both that and the Odyssey in high school, and I wept and bitched and tore my hair over it quite a bit, as I recall.

But I just found my copies as I was cleaning out my parents' place, and have long thought that I should read the Iliad again when not being forced to for academic reasons, to see if I could appreciate it (I mean, it *must* be good, right? It's been around an awfully long time)...

Well I just read the first chapter. The writing style is very old fashioned but I must admit it had me sucked in right away. But that could be cause it immediatly talked about my new ship; Briseis and Achilles. *g*

I think it all depends on the translation you have -- mine is a very academic tranlslation where it's all in poetry stanzas rather than prose... I think I might need to get an older version if I'll really enjoy it (I've done a bunch of comparative-translation stuff at college and am a big fan of old-skool translations where they took great liberties with the original to make it sound like the destination language and be fun to read).

And Briseis? I remember her. Sort of. Does she ever get mentioned again? You'll have to let me know... I vaguely remember thinking that Chryseis was somehow important for the two seconds she was mentioned and it was a big goal of mine ot find a way to reference her.

Er... I should get out of bed and help my roommate pack up his stuff from the kitchen... should should should...

She plays a big part in the movie while Chryseis isn't even mentioned. But Briseis will be again as Agamemnon will give her back to Achilles later on in the story. I think that the way Achilles is upset with losing her that she must mean something. Of course it can be just about losing his gift but I think it is more than that.

I'm not surprised that Chryseis isn't mentioned at all in the movie -- I think she's only breifly referred to in the book, too, and that it was talking about something that had happened a long time ago. Maybe. Oh, who knows, it's been 6 years since I read it and even then I was all about the monarch notes...

But you're inspiring me :) I'm out of school now, at least for the moment, and should get back into reading again. No reason to run in fear at the sight of anything more literary than a Harlequin Desire paperback. I will!

She's the girl that was given to Agamemnon and who is returned to her father, in revenge Agamemnon claims Briseis.

The translation I have is from 1959 and it's all in prose. It's a bit stiff but enjoyable. They claim to be loyal to the text. =o)

It only says Draik Transmog Potion but I was on the boards and someone asked what the difference is between a transmorph and just a morph and they said it made a mutant.
