In theory she should be tired, but instead of sleeping Sam sat staring at her dessert. Her dinner stood still untouched on the tray, right where it had been when the airmen had carried it in her room. She could have gone to the mess hall but she wasn’t sure she could face it. The last time she had been there, SG-1 had been together. *Her* SG-1 at least.

They had known the Goa’uld were coming and that nothing would be able to stop them. All their plans had been exhausted and General Hammond had just ordered the evacuation. Despite the grim air around them, they had made plans for poker night at the alpha site. As if the arrangement would force them to make it through the Stargate alive. She doubted Janet and Daniel would even remember the agreement. They were safe, she tried to cling to that thought, hoping that focussing on it would make her forget about the other half of SG-1. The half that she knew was still on Earth, ashes between the rubble of what she once considered her home.

Her hand tightened around the glass of red jello, her knuckles turning white as she tried to calculate the exact angle at which she would have to hurl the glass against the wall in order to make it shatter in as many pieces as possible. She wished she was the kind of person who threw things when they got angry. At least it would get rid of the excess energy that was building up in the muscles of her arm. At least it would be better than sitting on a chair and mourning over a lost world. Over people she had talked to only a couple of hours ago but who considered her still dead. Over people she’d never see again because this reality was just screwed up enough that they wouldn’t even recognise her if they’d met.

And I read Julie's fic after I read your comment that it wasn't as bad as she led us to believe. I thought it was actually very S/J, and it was good like she always makes them.

*sigh*

I think that for every S/P fic she writes, she should have to do two S/J. And I will try to write it for you this weekend, but no promises ;-)
