I was living in this really big castle/palace that apparently had been in the family for centuries. The basements were the oldest part of it (naturally). Something was happening that made the whole house tremble on it's foundations. When we went down into the basement (kinda had a gothic feel to it there although the rest was more renaissance and baroc) we found an inscription in the fireplace down there that were suddenly highllighted. I don't remember what it said (notice that I didn't read it but just knew what it said), just that the letters were in gold. Apparently it was some kind of "safety" that was put in when the house was first build. The owner wanted to make sure that only his family members would ever live in it and had created a way to stop the shakings. The trick was supposed to be passed on but in time people had forgotten about it so we didn't know how to turn it off.

Things started to get unstable and we had to evacuate most rooms. Then two guys turned up who were going to help us figure out how to stop it. (The annoying part is that I made some wrong comment about gold being rare in the 17th century and now the historian in my is annoyed by the mistake my mind made *thwaps brain*) Anyway, we just didn't know where to start looking. One of the guys was really cute and got all protective and yeah, major crush *sighs*

We didn't succeed. We had to evacuate the palace and watch how it crumbled with the last violent quake.
