Chronology:
Dec. 20th, 2003 03:49 pmFacts I didn't know but will never forget:
- Belgium is actually lying in the Greenwhich timezone. During WWII the Germans adapted the time to their timezone. After the war it never got changed again and thus we are still an hour ahead of England.
- In the Middle Ages a day was divided in day hours and night hours. Both counted 12 hours. But as you know the day and night aren't always as long so in the winter the day hours could last 40 minutes whereas the night hours laster an hour and 20 minutes.
- We refer to Christmas eve and all those religious evenings as the night before the actually beause during the Middle Ages (and before, based on the jewish calender) the day began with sunset. So Christmas eve was actually on the 25th instead of the night between the 24th and the 25th.
