*thwaps Imageready repeatedly*

*kicks program*

*throws program out of the window and jumps after it to jump up and down on it*

Why?! Why won't you let me make the icon for [livejournal.com profile] eowyn_luthien? Why do you have to be so damn complicated and incomprehensible?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

DIE! DIE! DIE! *strangles imageready*

*sobs*

GAAAAH!!!

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!!! *kicks Imageready in the head*
Poor, poor you.
I guess I'm gonna have to pay for part of your rehab into society after you've brutally murdered Imageready since I brought it up in the first place... sorry about that... *grimace*

I truly wonder how I ever got hooked on making icons with only Adobe to work with... it's so danged confusing and frustrating! (As you have found out! I'm trying to find a hacked version of Ulead GifAnimator as we speak so that I can get rid of Imageready... Imageready, your days are numbered! *shakes fist*)

So take a few deep breaths and... Don't use Imageready! no No NO! Bad program! Bad!!

I can do it with Ulead but I'm not happy with the quality. If you want I can give you a link for the program.
I found a trial version at ulead.com and I really like it! Woo! So if I can't find a hacked version of the full program maybe I'll just shell out the $50 for it and be happy I don't have to use Adobe anymore. :-)
As for the quality, do whatever you feel is best- I don't want you to stress yourself on account of my icon though, so I'd be more than willing to cut quality so you can use a better program. w/ or w/out animation is up to you, just do whatever's the least complicated for you.
And, I'm almost embarrassed to say it, but I don't have AIM, I don't really even know what it is... O_o

Yeah, mailing the link would be good- my e-mail address is ccj@gateworld.net. Thanks! :-)

I'd like to be able to figure out the Adobe programs as well- it's no good to have these big expensive programs on the computer if you can't use them, eh?

I used to have an instant messaging program on my computer, I think I got rid of it because I never used it. O_o I'm only on my computer at strange hours of the night so I guess e-mailing and lj are still the best for me, since I wouldn't be able to get back to anybody until 12 or 1 in the morning! *l*

Thanks, I'll definitely check out the Photoshop help!

4 AM?? Wow, you must have an even more messed up sleeping schedule than me! Or a very cool home job. :-) But I have to say that I like nighttime so much better, I hope eventually I can work from home doing whatever so that I can be more 'nocturnal' and not have to worry about 'work in the morning'. (Although a good friend of mine once jokingly told me that whoever I married was going to eventually hate me because I love being awake at night. *lol* I hope that prediction doesn't come true though!)

What I usually do is make the icon completely in Photoshop, overlays and everything, then save as a psd file. Open in ImageReady, duplicate frames as necessary, change which layers are available on which frame, do any tween effects, change the times, and you're done. It means you're not using IR for much other than the actual animation.

Just posted a link to an ImageReady tutorial in response to [livejournal.com profile] eowyn_luthein which you should be able to see. It's a good one.

(Or you could just click the "switch to Imageready" button instead of having to hunt down the program and file. Neat!)

I can do that with fading text, but how does it work with images? Do you know of any good tutorials for Photoshop/Imageready for making mini movie icons/animation etc.? Adobe is drivin' me nuts... but if I could figure out how to use it I'd probably use it a lot. :-)

Try this - Animating Icons in ImageReady (http://www.livejournal.com/community/icon_tutorial/3522.html). It's a very good tutorial, and is quite comprehensive.

Really? Hmmm. Have to find another one then. That's the one that just about did it for me.
