Rambling!

By tomorrow this time, I will hopefully have my hands on the Avatar finale. Yay!

It's been a slow and steady week so far. I've received three rejection letters from last month, didn't receive letters on another bunch. Haven't managed to find anything new that I want to apply for, though.

I managed to get my hands on a copy of Day Watch. I tried watching last night, but VLC player was being an ass with the subtitles. I tried downloading BSplayer which then installed WhenU.Save spyware on my computer which was freaking annoying. It took some time before I managed to get rid of it, but BSplayer seems to be able to play the subtitles decently. Yay! So hopefully I want watch sometime today.

I'm happy that I did the post asking for advice on my RP plot. It's always good to get a new perspective on things and some issues were brought up that I hadn't managed to think of myself. But plans are forming in my head and I think I can pull it off.

I feel more balanced than I have in a while. As if I've got some more perspective on things. I still don't have a magical answer to a whole lot of stuff and I'm still annoyed about certain things. I can't count how many times I've been wanting to walk away from one particular thing and I found out something else that is definitely making me wonder if it's all worth it. Look at me being cryptic.

In less cryptic news, I'm actually pretty happy with my Secret Santa assignment. I feel like I might be able to make some cool things if I manage to find what I am looking for.

Oh! Television! I've seen Bones for the very first time and liked it. I'm pretty happy with this week's Veronica Mars too. Yes, I fully admit that Logan and Veronica finally breaking up helped heaps. They've been annoying me the entire season and I actually was able to stand Logan again for the first time this season. Apparently I like the pairing better in theory. Only please, PLEASE, do not keep the off and on thing going. It's frakking annoying.

I've got some issues with certain things of this storyline. I want to thwap V for running off without calling anyone. I know a lot of people were all "awwww" about Logan helping V out, but while I'm good with it, I would have prefered if he did it on an equal level. I know, I know. They had to get V alone, but it would have meant so much more if Logan and V had actually worked together. Now it feels like Logan was jumping in and needed to confirm his manliness by going after the rapist and asking V to stand back. *rolls eyes* Combined with how they've been portraying the feminists on this show, it just annoyed the hell out of me.

Piz is cute. I love Piz. I love him and Wallace working together. Best roomies EVER! I loved Mac. I love Parker coming to the rescue. So much love all around, omg.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] mrv3000's comment about Logan at the end really got to me. I was kind of cheering him on, but when you stop to think about it a bit longer, it's really not such a good thing. [livejournal.com profile] mrv3000 drawing the comparison between this scene and the one where Aaron beats the crap out of Trina's boyfriend for hurting his girl is very telling. Yeah, I do see the potential in Logan to be that out of control. I get his need to beat up on Mercer, but the guy was already caught and in jail. It's pretty messed up.

I think that's about it. Look at me, being rambly. Uh. Gonna end this post now.

Poor Logan. He's so fucked up. And has the worst taste in friends. (I can actually see a lot of parallels between the Mercer storyline this season and the Angelus storyline at FH last year.)

I don't mind V letting Logan go after the rapist. She's never been Buffy. Her job is to solve the mystery, not fight the suspect. If she was the muscle as well as the brains, that'd be too much of a Mary Sue for me.

I would like it if they showed some less militant feminists, though. V is a personification of feminism, but I'm sick of people assuming "feminist" means "crazy man-hating chick," and this show's representation of "feminists" is not helping. I can accept that there are women that extreme, but I'd like to hear a reference, at least, to self-identified feminists that *aren't* psycho.

Word. Word. Word. I like the fact that the show never referred to them as feminists, always as Lilith House women (and wow did I want to type that as 'Little House'), but I would have liked to see a non-psycho self-identified feminist as well. I suppose Parker giving out the rape whistles is as close as we're going to get.

Oh dude... wow... that hadn't occurred to me, but you're so totally right. And seriously, I just want to give him a big damn hug. He's trying *so* hard to make things right with Veronica and she is not making it easy. I want to kick her.

I agree with you. I think it's high time she realized she can't do it all alone and I thought that her letting Logan and Wallace go to where they thought the rapist was is a huge step in the right direction. I'm hoping it's going to lead to a V/Logan reconciliation.

And WORD on the feminist thing.

After watching this episode, I thought, "Wow, he really would be the guy befriending and defending the charming serial killer/rapist." Poor guy. His people sense is all twisty.

He's trying *so* hard to make things right with Veronica and she is not making it easy.

*nod* But I think for her to compromise with him, she'd have to admit that she needs him, which would mean she'd have to admit that she needs another person, which is so very, very hard for her to do.
