I was only briefly versed on the Tristan and Isolde story before I saw the movie, but I had remembered the latter part about the sails. And then it didn't appear in the movie at all, and I got awfully confused. But it's nice to know I hadn't gotten my legends mixed up too much.
I rather liked it. As a romance and it was very, very pretty. I like pretty movies. And I was totally girl crushing on Sophia Myles (more or less since Thunderbirds, cracktastically ridiculous movie that was) and James Franco is a spunk. Why yes, I am shallow and superficial :)
As usual, it was Hollywood-ised. As a movie it never would have passed muster if there hadn't been illicit sex. And angst can only be taken in small doses, particularly when you're talking about movie-going audiences. Sad, but ultimately true.
On a side note, that is a simply gorgeous icon you're using.
