*cuddles* Kara and Sam are in the desert! It's hot there, the kind of stifling heat that sucks the moisture out of things.
"We've been looking for days." Sam knew her tone was dull. She felt dull, washed-out and weary. The sun beat down, draining the energy she'd had in the early morning like a cracked bucket.
"They have to be here."
Giving into the desperation in Kara's tone, Sam reached out and caught her by the elbow. "We have to stop. You're about to fall over, and I'm not much better--" She swore as she got a look at Kara's eyes, and took in the feverish brightness. "Kara, we need to find water."
"I'm fine--"
"No you're not." Using less strength than she thought she'd have to, Sam pulled Kara to a halt. She brought her hand up and touched Kara's forehead. "Crap. You're burning up."
"Crap?" Kara giggled. "At least I've loosened you up."
"Shut up. Save your strength." They were going to need it. Sam had no idea where in the world they were, and she knew Kara would die if they didn't find water and cool her down.
