Jehanne Darc

woodfaceBah, every year there is a party from one of our national radio's in this part of our town, and every year they play really bad music really loud and annoy the hell out of me. *turns her headphones louder*
I finally saw 'Joan of Arc' with Milla Jovovich. Wow, is that movie bad. Luc Besson clearly went for the 'she's crazy' approach. Was more than annoying, although for some reason I do like Milla Jovovich even if her acting skills are lacking.
I have a strange fascination with Jeanne d'Arc (Jehanne as I saw it written in the text of her prosecution they have lying in Chinon. I like Jehanne for some reason, love how it's pronounced in Dutch). It dates back to many trips to France and finding beautiful statues in the french churches of this beautiful girl clad in armour and I wanted to be a knight like her. My father used to tell me her story, how she saved France from the English. Of course, later you learn how she was burned at the stake by the English and how the king abandoned her.
Sadly enough, I don't know as much of Jehanne as I should. So I have half a mind of doing some research, gathering info. Find fuel and information, maybe enough to start my own story and vision on her. Heh, very ambitious, I'm sure the urge will pass soon enough. One of my professors had a fascination with Jeanne d'Arc as well. He said it was very hard to understand her story as it's hard fora historian to take faith into account. Either you come to the conclusion that she's completely off her rockers, or you have to believe her. I want to find out what I would think.
ETA: I do not want to see Katee Sackhoff as Jeanne d'Arc. Nope. I don't.
ETA²: I need to stop shipping Jeanne and Jean d'Aulon in every movie about her that I see. It's bad and unhistorical and *hits self*
