*ponders* Errrr...

Black and white are both not colours, which sets them apart from green, blue, red etc. Black is actually what occurs when there is no reflection of light. This is why it is possible for white to turn black. Example: when driving at night. Due to the lack of reflection, the white is no longer visible and turns completely black. Hence, white is black when there is no light.

Now let's take this reasoning one step further. When one is outside during the day, there is always light - no matter how little. So really, the road can't be black because otherwise that would mean that there is no light. So if the road isn't black and it isn't coloured, then what is it? The only other option remaining is that the road is actually white.
