Fandom thoughts

You know, it's good to take a step back from SG fandom. The idiocy is reaching new heights and I frankly do not care at the moment. Not only is there a slashers-shippers sort of competition but shippers are arguing amongst themselves as well (I know, this is nothing new). However, I can not be arsed to give a damn about those rabid lunatic shippers who keep shouting the end of ship every 5 minutes and then declare their love once more when they see it is going better. Grow up and leave me alone. Not reading lists is nice and relaxing, avoiding spoilers is as good an excuse as any to be able to avoid any sort of petty thoughts regarding the ship future. I do not care about a new S9. Nope, I'll watch it if I'm able to get my hands on it, I won't if I don't. *shrugs*
I think fandom (and the series turning into the neverending story) has scared my muse away big time. So yes, I'm enjoying Battlestar Galactica a lot more than SG at the moment. Actually, I haven't been this excited about a series since S6 of SG (maybe even S4). Hell, BSG is rapidly turning into the best scifi series since the end of Voyager and the death of Jadzia Dax in DS9.
I know a lot of people like the fact that SG does not take itself seriously. Honestly? That's the one thing that annoys me from time to time. While it adds to the humour, in the last few seasons that attitude has made for sloppy writing and annoying moments where the humour is just lame. (Yes, I like quirky Jack but like I have expressed before I am seeing more of RDA in it and this is the point where I do not like it anymore.) I'm sure
splash_the_cat will come and hit me over the head when she's home again because I should not be comparing series that are completely different BUT damn, it is nice to watch a series that is well developed. It is mature, looks at details, shows the darker side of reality without a need to laugh it off later. I know it is still young but these characters are interesting and I just want to know what will happen next. The villans are not two dimensional evil and the whole religion thing will kick ass if they play their cards right.
So yes, my mind is happily off wandering in the BSG universe. And yes, I abducted Sam and put her into it as well (because she is the best thing out of SG). Don't worry, I still love SG only slightly less than I used to.
I wonder what will happen when I see more of Farscape.
