Heh, see I like Bram Stoker's Dracula (the movie) when I'm not seeing it. When I'm watching it, the whole Mina/Dracula thing annoys the hell out of me because they had the guts to call it "Bram Stoker's" and then fuck with the characterisation of Dracula and the whole damn plot.

Either call it Dracula and do whatever the hell you want, or try to follow the book like it is written.

I mean. Shiiiit. It's the best movie EVAR. Actually i hate HATE HAAAAAAATE about 1/3 of it and obsess passionately over the other 2/3s. Liek whoa. I love Mina/Dracula/Elisabetta! So much hottness. And the soft core between them on the bed in the end is the Best Soft Core Ever Filmed.

But but but but... it's so wrong from Bram Stoker's POV. That's what gets me every time. I stupidly try to watch it thinking I will not get annoyed and then wham, I am annoyed. *sighs*

And I get annoyed with how BAAAD parts of it are and how gross parts of it are. And the whole beasitality thing and Lucy's orgasmic thumping.

but the entire Mina arc? Hot. And Gary Oldman is a sweet looking son of a bitch.

The bestiality part is not my main concern as that is implied in the books too. Dracula takes on the shape of a wolf to go to Lucy from time to time.

See, that is why it annoys me. You have sympathy for Dracula because OMG he lost the love of his life. Bull, Dracula is pure evil. There are no redeeming qualities. While the idea is intriguing and romantic, I will keep being annoyed about it because I read the book first. This always happens when I read the book first and then see the movie. I start getting annoyed at the differences.

And I'm troubled about reading the book as I see Dracula as such a wonderful romantic character, re: Call/Sirius and Alucard/Integra in Hellsing. (Alucard = Dracula, snerk snerk). I've bought the book...hrm. :perplexed:

I love the book. There is Dracula/Mina (actually, they all have a crush on Mina) in it, Dracula tries to seduce her but there is no sympathy for his character. I read it in high school (a dutch translation though) and I loved esp the first part in Transylvania. I bought it in English but I know that it was too hard to read at the time. Maybe now, 6 years later, I'll be able to tackle it.
