Sep. 2nd, 2004 08:38 pm13. I don't like Sara. Seriously, I do not. She's the one character of the whole series that I like the least.
Why not? I don't see Jack/Sara as a happy relationship. It was messed up and that image Jack keeps in his head is just that; in his head. He sees it more beautiful now than it ever was.
Let's face it, half of his marriage Jack wasn't even there. He left her to bring up their son on her own. When he came back, he couldn't share anything. I doubt he would even have wanted to. I see Sara/Jack as an unequal relationship. One where Jack acts tough, is the man and never shares anything with his wife. Sara puts up with it, doesn't try to get through to Jack. Can you blame her? So their son dies and the non communication becomes the death of them. Sara still can't get through to Jack, Jack still doesn't want to open up to her because he has taken on the role of the strong man. Bound to be messed up. Laira was the same type, btw. She would be the good homey wife and let Jack be.
Sam is more like Jack but I think their stubborness to be strong for the other would force them to be open. Sure, they'd clash more than once but it wouldn't kill the relationship. It still would be hard, they still wouldn't have long and meaningful conversations but they don't need those. They have learned to know what is going on in the other (even if sometimes they force themselves not to actively realise it). They would be a lot more equal in the relationship.
