Sometimes it’s easier to believe that you’re invincible and nothing can hurt you.
Until someone stumbles and the illusion pops like the soap bubbles you used to blow as a child.
Until something reminds you that nothing lasts, especially not here – and you end up standing in an empty infirmary in the middle of the night, trying to remember what you wanted to tell her in the first place.
And you wish it wouldn’t hurt so much, wish it wouldn’t leave you this empty.
Until you remember what she died for, and you know you’re prepared to do the same.
