Emotions

Emotions are impressions that can cut deep the moment you experience them. Some are fleeting and vanish within seconds and not even 24 hours later you hardly remember them. Others cut through you, they stir you somewhere deep inside and leave you cut up and bloodied. But the emotion itself is gone. All that's left is the wound they created, tender flesh around them reminds you of how they felt exactly and it determines the way you still respond to what or who caused the emotion.

Then there is love, it's an emotion but it's neither fleeting nor wounding and both at the same time. It goes deep, moves you, changes you inside out but you only see the happiness. It can be twisting, painful and make you do the unthinkable. It clouds your mind, determines what you think and feel. It becomes the centre of your soul, consumes you, fills you, leaves you wanting to be so much more. Then it dies, and leaves the gaping wounds that eventually heal but you'll never be the same again. Your mind remembers the emotion but it can not grasp it anymore. It has become incomprehensible and even undesirable. Once the devouring flame dies, it can't be rekindled.
